For the 2022 edition of Design Day, dedicated to regeneration, the Italian Embassy in Portugal has invited Giulio Vinaccia, a designer known for his international commitment to increase the social impact of creative industries.<\/p>\n
The winner of the Compasso d’Oro 2016 and of the World Green Design Award 2015, consultant at UNIDO and for several national governments, Vinaccia shared with the Portuguese public a workshop on regeneration and the recycling of materials and a lecture on the social impact of design.<\/p>\n
“Today designers have a social responsibility,\u201d Vinaccia told the students of the\u00a0Escola Superior de Artes e Design \/ College of Art and Design of Matosinhos, in the industrial district of Porto. \u201cDesign can be used as an instrument to actively combat inequality and generate profits and resilience through new models of creative economies.\u201d<\/p>\n
In his introductory comments to the lecture, the Italian Ambassador, Carlo Formosa, recalled that regeneration is also the central theme of Rome\u2019s candidacy to host Expo 2030. \u201cPeople and Territories: Urban Regeneration, Inclusion and Innovation\u201d\u00a0is the title of the project presented by the city of Rome, which gives priority to the regeneration of urban infrastructure through the participation of the third sector, considered to be the driver of human development, in intercultural dialogue and international solidarity.<\/p>\n
