Delegated by the President of the Council of Ministers, Mario Draghi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Di Maio, will visit Angola and the Republic of the Congo on 20 and 21 April 2022, together with the Minister of Ecological Transition, Roberto Cingolani, and ENI CEO, Claudio Descalzi.<\/p>\n
One month after Minister Di Maio’s first diplomatic mission to the region, the Italian Government confirms its commitment to strengthening cooperation with Countries exporting gas to Italy, in order to diversify supply sources and reduce energy dependence on Russian supplies.<\/p>\n
In Angola, Ministers Di Maio and Cingolani will meet with the President of the Republic, Jo\u00e3o Manuel Gon\u00e7alves Louren\u00e7o, and will sign a Declaration of Intent, which will provide the legal framework for development activities in the natural gas sector as well as joint projects in favour of Angola’s decarbonisation and energy transition.<\/p>\n
Afterwards, Ministers Di Maio and Cingolani will travel to the Republic of the Congo, where they will be received by the President of the Republic,\u00a0Denis Sassou Nguesso. Once again, a Declaration of Intent will be signed on enhanced cooperation in the energy field between Italy and Congo.<\/p>\n
Ministers Di Maio and Cingolani’s diplomatic mission confirms the attention and interest Italy has for Africa, a continent that was at the centre of the Italian Presidency of the G20 last year.
