Rome, 11 July 2022 \u2013 Keeping citizens safe abroad is at the center of the new services offered by the Crisis Unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in view of the 2022 summer season. On opening this morning\u2019s event \u201cLet\u2019s Start Traveling Safely Again\u201d moderated by journalist Mariangela Pira, Minister Luigi Di Maio presented the new services for travelers introduced by the Ministry, starting with the new website \u201cViaggiare Sicuri\u201d (Travel Safely).<\/p>\n
With more than 39 million single contacts registered in 2021, the portal aims to further expand its scope as a point of reference for tourists, companies, and Italians intending to start their travels abroad duly informed.<\/p>\n
All the innovations were illustrated by Counsellor Giulia Romani from the Farnesina\u2019s Unit Crisis, thus confirming the constant commitment of this key office of the Ministry to make growingly effective updates in its information portals in the wake of the many services introduced during the pandemic, starting with the \u201cInfo Covid\u201d questionnaire.<\/p>\n
Another significant change described by Prof. Paola Pisano, Expert in Digital Innovation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), is the introduction of the Farnesina\u2019s travel safely function on \u201cIo\u201d of PagoPA, an app already used by 28 million citizens on the \u201cIo\u201d platform which, as of today, will enable users to navigate more easily on \u201cViaggiare Sicuri\u201d and \u201cDove siamo nel Mondo\u201d (\u201cWhere we are in the World\u201d) and to download the \u201cCrisis Unit\u201d App.<\/p>\n
During the event, the Secretary General of the MAECI, Ambassador Ettore Francesco Sequi, presented the TV commercial on the new services produced free of charge by Alberto Angela that will be broadcast on the RAI networks by the Department of Information and Editing of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers during the summer period. It is part of a campaign that, compounded to the Farnesina\u2019s social media, will further disseminate knowledge of the portals that promote traveling responsibly.<\/p>\n
The Head of the Crisis Unit, Nicola Minasi, closed the session by illustrating the future projects already in the pipeline: the use of artificial intelligence for a quick response to emergencies, cooperating with search engines, intelligent SMSs for Italians abroad, and alternative systems in case of a connectivity failure. These are the experiments and developments that engage the Crisis Unit in a fruitful exchange both with institutions and the private sector with a view to providing the public wity an increasingly effective service exploiting an ever-more spearheading technology.<\/p>\n
