{"id":8228,"date":"2012-09-18T07:48:52","date_gmt":"2012-09-18T05:48:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/comunicati\/2012\/09\/20120918_terziamnistia-2\/"},"modified":"2012-09-18T07:48:52","modified_gmt":"2012-09-18T05:48:52","slug":"20120918_terziamnistia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/en\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/comunicati\/2012\/09\/20120918_terziamnistia\/","title":{"rendered":"Press release detail"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><P>The amnesty proclaimed by the Burmese authorities \u2013 which includes political prisoners, and is the third this year \u2013 bears witness to the Burmese Government\u2019s intention to continue along the road of reforms.<\/P><br \/>\n<P>The statement was made by Foreign Minister Giulio Terzi, who noted that \u201cin the context of the European Union\u2019s decision to open <A name=_GoBack><\/A>up to the Burmese Government, Italy was one of the first countries to stress the need to encourage Myanmar in its reform process, not least by suspending the sanctions\u201d. <\/P><br \/>\n<P>These latest developments are in line with the hopes expressed by Minister Terzi, the first European political representative to visit Myanmar after the EU sanctions were suspended in April 2012. <\/P><br \/>\n<P>\u201cToday\u201d, concluded Terzi, \u201cThein Sein\u2019s Government has shown that it can provide a coherent response to the opening of credit by the international community.
