The Ambassador of Italy in Beijing, Luca Ferrari, recently opened an exhibition dedicated to Italian art entitled \u201cThe Infinite Universe of Wuji: Masterpieces from the Galleria Nazionale d\u2019Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Roma\u201d. The exhibition is open to the public until 30 October 2022 at Beijing\u2019s World Art Museum.<\/p>\n
The initiative was organised as part of the Italy-China Year of Culture and Tourism 2022. It is an international project conceived by the Galleria Nazionale d\u2019Arte Moderna e Contemporanea to show the Chinese public one of the biggest and most important collections of modern and contemporary art. At the opening event Ambassador Ferrari underscored that the Italy-China Year of Culture and Tourism is fully up and running, with a number of important Italian exhibitions now open in Beijing and other Chinese cities. They include the Giorgio Morandi exhibition in Shanghai, Maurizio Cattelan\u2019s \u201cWish You Were Here\u201d in Shenzhen, and \u201cThe Road to Baroque \u2013 Masterpieces from the Capodimonte Museum\u201d in Hong Kong.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe presence of these exhibitions in China today confirms Italy\u2019s role as a cultural superpower\u201d, observed Ferrari, \u201cand is proof of the variety of our artistic heritage and the importance of our museums. These are cultural diplomacy initiatives which reassert the strength of culture as an instrument of soft power and a factor that brings peoples together\u201d.<\/p>\n
The exhibition in Beijing takes visitors through a display of 62 Italian and European masterpieces. They include Van Gogh\u2019s \u201cGardener\u201d, along with works by Italian masters such as Amedeo Modigliani, Giorgio De Chirico, Giacomo Balla, Lucio Fontana and Alberto Burri.
