The Foreign Ministry can confirm that Alessandro Spadotto, the carabinieri officer serving at the Italian Embassy in Yemen and kidnapped on Sunday 30 July, has been released. He is now on his way back to the capital, Sana’a.<\/P>

Foreign Minister Giulio Terzi has been following the case from the earliest stages of the kidnapping and has been in constant contact with his Yemeni colleague, Al Qirbi.
