{"id":88518,"date":"2022-10-20T17:14:04","date_gmt":"2022-10-20T15:14:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/\/2022\/10\/ucraina-la-diplomazia-culturale-veicolo-di-pace-e-vicinanza\/"},"modified":"2022-10-20T18:12:02","modified_gmt":"2022-10-20T16:12:02","slug":"ucraina-la-diplomazia-culturale-veicolo-di-pace-e-vicinanza","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/en\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/retediplomatica\/2022\/10\/ucraina-la-diplomazia-culturale-veicolo-di-pace-e-vicinanza\/","title":{"rendered":"Ukraine: cultural diplomacy, a vehicle for peace and solidarity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cDespite the terrible conflict, Italy has maintained its\u00a0<strong>cultural outpost in Ukraine<\/strong>, a nation that believes all expressions of art to be essential, not just as a \u201cspiritual form\u201d of recreation and entertainment, but also as a channel to protect its European identity\u201d said\u00a0<strong>Italian Ambassador in Kiev<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Pier Francesco Zazo<\/strong>\u00a0as he talked about the programme of art, culture and music events organised by the\u00a0<strong>Italian Cultural Institute in Kiev<\/strong>\u00a0in association with the Embassy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cThe Kyiv Baroque Consort\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0Ensemble, directed by Maestro Nancy Milesis Romano performed Vivaldi\u2019s Gloria at the\u00a0<strong>Orthodox Saint Andrew\u2019s Church<\/strong>\u00a0in Kiev which features Italian Baroque and was designed by architect Bartolomeo Rastrelli. Afterwards, in association with the Italian Embassy, the Institute hosted a concert by Italian guitarist\u00a0<strong>Simone Onnis\u00a0<\/strong>who performed a number of pieces by Carlo Domeniconi, Francisco Tarrega and Mauro Giuliani, some of the most widely appreciated composers of guitar music at the Lviv National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre and the National Philharmonic of Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>The Ambassador said that \u201c<strong>music<\/strong>\u00a0proves to be an\u00a0<strong>extraordinary vehicle for peace and solidarity<\/strong>\u00a0between our two peoples. I would like to thank the Director of the Italian Cultural Institute,\u00a0<strong>Edoardo Crisafulli\u00a0<\/strong>and Maestro Onnis for their availability and enthusiasm, the director of the Lviv National Opera Theatre and the Director of the Philharmonic of Kiev for their wonderful hospitality and cooperation\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Marking\u00a0<strong>XVIII<\/strong>\u00a0Contemporary Art Day, the Italian Cultural Institute invited writer\u00a0<strong>Gianluigi Ricuperati\u00a0<\/strong>to Lviv to compare Ukrainian and Italian culture and art. According to Ambassador Zazo, \u201ccontemporary art proves to be a strong tool for\u00a0<strong>cultural diplomacy\u00a0<\/strong>that can build a creative bridge between Italy and Ukraine\u201d.
