First \u201cItalian Education System in the World\u201d event takes place at the Farnesina on 17 November<\/em><\/p>\n

The closing event of\u00a0Italian Education in the World Days<\/strong>\u00a0will take place at the Farnesina on 17 November 2022. The\u00a0first official event<\/strong>\u00a0dedicated to the\u00a0Italian Education System in the World<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0is an opportunity for all practitioners in the network \u2013\u00a0Italian<\/strong>\u00a0schools<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0departments<\/strong>\u00a0abroad,\u00a0language assistantships<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Italian language and culture courses<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 to meet and discuss.<\/p>\n

Participants include\u00a0students<\/strong>,\u00a0experts<\/strong>,\u00a0teachers,<\/strong>\u00a0school managers <\/strong>and administrative staff\u00a0<\/strong>. The initiative itself grew from an awareness that Italian education and learning is an important tool for\u00a0cultural diplomacy<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0soft power<\/strong>, in the framework of promoting the\u00a0Italian language and culture throughout the world<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

With the first edition of\u00a0Italian Education in the World Days<\/strong>, the Directorate General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation intends to impart a\u00a0new impetus<\/strong>\u00a0to this network of educational institutions by encouraging dialogue by all practitioners on the opportunities, challenges and prospects of the\u00a0Italian educational model<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In the run-up to the event, four technical workshops were held. Representatives of the Italian Education System in the World, led by external\u00a0experts<\/strong>, discussed\u00a0strategic issues<\/strong>\u00a0such as digitalisation, interculturalism, inclusion, communication, project design, the network and innovation in teaching methods.<\/p>\n

The results of the thematic workshops will be discussed on the morning of 17 November in the International Conference Hall at the Farnesina, and will then feed into a planning document.<\/p>\n

In the presence of the\u00a0Deputy Prime Minister\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation<\/strong>, the Hon. Antonio\u00a0Tajani<\/strong>, and of the\u00a0Minister of Education and Merit<\/strong>,\u00a0Prof<\/strong>. Giuseppe\u00a0Valditara<\/strong>, the Italian Education System in the World and its\u00a0relationships<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0collaborative initiatives<\/strong>\u00a0will be presented on the afternoon of\u00a017 November<\/strong>. The event will include considerations of the strategic role and present and future potential of this network of educational institutions.<\/p>\n

The Italian Education System includes the following.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Over 300,000 students<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Seven Italian state schools \u2013 the core of the System \u2013 operating abroad, in Addis Ababa, Athens, Barcelona, Istanbul, Madrid, Paris and Zurich.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a042 state-recognised private schools abroad, 30 of them in the northern hemisphere and 12 in the southern<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a092 Italian departments in bilingual or international schools abroad, in which the Italian language is taught and other subjects are taught in Italian. More than half (49) are the result of international agreements.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a010,979 Italian language and culture courses abroad, organised by the relevant management bodies and by ministry teaching staff. 65 management bodies in Europe, North America, Latin America, South Africa, Australia and the Middle East received ministry grants in 2021.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0130 language assistantships in foreign universities, in 63 countries.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0674 people \u2013 school managers, teachers and administrative personnel \u2013 managed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and working in schools abroad.<\/p>\n
