On Monday, 21 November, the opening day of the Rome Science Festival (21 – 27 November), the event titled \u201cScience in Rome\u201d, moderated by the Festival\u2019s Director, Vittorio Bo, was held at the Auditorium Parco della Musica at 6:00 PM.<\/p>\n
The event was attended by the representatives of the capital\u2019s major research agencies and universities, members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Rome, the Scientific Attach\u00e9s and the Directors of foreign Countries\u2019 Cultural Institutes headquartered in the capital. The opening section was focused on the candidacy of Rome, city of science, to host EXPO 2030 and screened \u201cScienza capitale: Roma, il futuro \u00e8 adesso\u201d (\u201cCapital of Science: Rome, the Future is Now\u201d), a short video promoting the points of scientific excellence of Roma Capitale, produced by the Directorate General for Country Promotion of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and featuring an eminent testimonial: Prof. Giorgio Parisi, Nobel Prize Laureate for Physics and professor at Rome\u2019s La Sapienza University. The event\u2019s second section was dedicated to the presentation of the project to build the Science Museum of Rome.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cOver the last few years, scientific diplomacy has acquired a growing role in the broader context of Italy\u2019s foreign policy,\u201d commented Minister Plenipotentiary Cecilia Piccioni, former director of the Directorate for Integrated Promotion and Innovation and currently Minister Tajani\u2019s Deputy Chief of Staff, recalling that it is an essential element for the internationalization of the Country\u2019s economic system and its competitiveness. \u201cRome is globally renowned for its beauty, its monuments, its history; but the capital is also a great city of science and innovation, the seat of prestigious universities and research institutes that represent the more modern and innovative profile, not only of the city but of the whole Country.
