Italy is at the centre of the Parisian cultural scene for seven days of meetings, lectures, dialogues, exhibitions and performances organised in some of the French capital’s most iconic venues, as a great container of words, ideas and emotions, namely\u00a0\u201cPassioni Italiane<\/i>\u201d<\/b>\u00a0(Italian Passions)<\/b>. With two parallel paths: participation as\u00a0Guest of Honour<\/b>\u00a0in the\u00a0Festival du Livre de Paris<\/i><\/b>\u00a0(from 21 to 23 April at the\u00a0Grand Palais \u00c9ph\u00e9m\u00e8re<\/i>) and the eighth edition of\u00a0ITALISSIMO<\/b>, the Festival of Italian literature and culture (from 18 to 23 April in various venues around the city).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Participation in the\u00a0Festival du Livre<\/i>, with a privileged area of 500 square metres inside the\u00a0Grand Palais \u00c9ph\u00e9m\u00e8re<\/i>\u00a0and an intense programme of events, is made possible thanks to the support and collaboration of the\u00a0Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation<\/b>, the\u00a0Ministry of Culture<\/b>\u00a0with the\u00a0Centre for Books and Reading<\/b>, the\u00a0Italian Embassy in Paris<\/b>, the\u00a0Italian Cultural Institute in Paris<\/b>,\u00a0ICE – Agency for the promotion abroad and the internationalisation of Italian companies<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0AIE \u2013 Associazione Italiana Editori (<\/b>the\u00a0<\/b>Italian Publishers’ Association\u00a0<\/b>which, as on similar occasions, makes use of the\u00a0Ex Libris<\/i><\/b>\u00a0agency).\u00a0<\/span>The Media partner is\u00a0Il Giornale della Libreria<\/i><\/b>.<\/p>\n

The programme of the\u00a0Festival du Livre de Paris<\/i>\u00a0– the most important French and French-speaking event in the field of publishing, as well as one of the most relevant in Europe – is matched by that of\u00a0ITALISSIMO\u00a0<\/b>curated by\u00a0Fabio Gambaro<\/b>. Created in 2016, the Festival has established itself as one of the most eagerly awaited events for the promotion of Italian literature and culture in Paris, with growing favour and support from both the transalpine cultural world and the public and media. ITALISSIMO<\/b>\u00a0offers a highly articulate programme, in which a mix of the best-loved authors from the Italian publishing scene and a selection of new voices takes place through the exchange and intertwining with the other arts: between writing and image, thought and performance. It takes place\u00a0in various venues<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0in collaboration with prestigious cultural institutions in the city<\/b>, such as\u00a0Maison de la Po\u00e9sie<\/i>, the Italian Cultural Institute, the Consulate General of Italy,\u00a0Th\u00e9\u00e2tre de l’Od\u00e9on<\/i>,\u00a0Th\u00e9\u00e2tre Les D\u00e9chargeurs<\/i>,\u00a0Sciences Po<\/i>,\u00a0Sorbonne Universit\u00e9<\/i>,\u00a0Sorbonne Nouvelle<\/i>,\u00a0L’Entrep\u00f4t<\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0Panth\u00e9on<\/i>\u00a0movie theatres,\u00a0Maison d’Italie<\/i>,\u00a0Biblioth\u00e8que Publique d’Information<\/i>\u00a0du Centre Pompidou<\/i>\u00a0and the high schools of the Paris region. This eighth edition of\u00a0ITALISSIMO<\/b>\u00a0is supported by\u00a0ICE – Agency<\/b>, the\u00a0Centre for Books and Reading<\/b>, the\u00a0Embassy of Italy in Paris<\/b>,\u00a0Centre National du Livre<\/i><\/b>,\u00a0Sofia<\/b>,\u00a0Drac \u020ale de France<\/b>,\u00a0Monte Paschi Banque<\/b>,\u00a0Castaldi & Partners<\/b>, the\u00a0Consulate General of Italy in Paris<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0Comit\u00e9 d’animation culturelle Paris1.<\/b><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cPassioni Italiane<\/b>\u201d<\/span><\/i>\u00a0will first and foremost be a great celebration of authors. They will be entrusted with the task of telling the French public about the creative, cultural, editorial and artistic wealth of contemporary Italy. But the journey – which is anticipated in the first months of 2023 by the cycle \u201cSei autori sulla via del Festival del Libro di Parigi<\/i><\/b>\u201d, at the Italian Cultural Institute in Paris – will break down the barriers of the present time, going all the way back to the sources of literature and the universal myth of the\u00a0Comedy<\/i>\u00a0(Le voci di Dante<\/b>\u00a0with\u00a0Toni Servillo<\/b>, opening event on\u00a0Monday 17 April<\/b>\u00a0at\u00a0Th\u00e9\u00e2tre de l’Od\u00e9on<\/i><\/b>), and then descend the river of time in the company of the classics, with tributes to\u00a0Gabriele D’Annunzio<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0Italo Calvino<\/b>. The exhibition\u00a0Eccellenze italiane<\/i><\/b>.\u00a0Figure per Italo Calvino<\/i><\/b>, organised in collaboration with\u00a0Bologna Children’s Book Fair<\/b>\u00a0and set up inside the Italian Pavilion, will also be dedicated to Italo Calvino on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his birth.
