Nel quadro del proprio impegno sul piano internazionale a favore della libert\u00e0 di religione o credo, l’Italia si \u00e8 fatta promotrice – in seno al Gruppo di Contatto Internazionale per la Libert\u00e0 di Religione o Credo (ICG-FORB) – di una dichiarazione congiunta sul Sudan, tesa ad esprimere soddisfazione e appoggio al processo di transizione democratica e di riforma intrapreso dal Governo di transizione a guida civile. Tale processo, accompagnato da significativi sforzi nella promozione dei diritti umani, in particolare della libert\u00e0 di religione o credo, sta contribuendo al miglioramento delle relazioni del Paese a livello internazionale e ha gi\u00e0 portato a importanti risultati: tra gli altri, l\u2019abolizione della pena di morte nei confronti dei minori, l\u2019inserimento della pratica delle mutilazioni genitali femminili tra i crimini punibili a norma di legge, una politica di apertura verso la libert\u00e0 di stampa e significativi\u00a0 passi avanti in tema di libert\u00e0 di religione e credo – tra i quali l\u2019inserimento in Costituzione del diritto alla libert\u00e0 di religione, l\u2019abolizione dell\u2019apostasia come reato \u2013 che saranno centrali nel rafforzare il processo di transizione democratica.<\/p>\n
Nella dichiarazione congiunta promossa dall’Italia – alla quale hanno aderito altri 13 Paesi, a partire dai co-Presidenti del Gruppo di Contatto (Stati Uniti e Canada), oltre ad Australia, Cile, Danimarca, Francia, Germania, Paesi Bassi, Norvegia, Polonia , Spagna, Svezia e Regno Unito – si incoraggiano le autorit\u00e0 sudanesi a proseguire l\u2019ottimo percorso intrapreso, rispettando gli impegni annunciati in tema di promozione dei diritti umani, in particolare sulla libert\u00e0 di religione e credo.<\/p>\n

Joint Statement on Sudan<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n August 26, 2020<\/p>\n The governments of Australia, Canada, Chile, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States of America welcome the process of democratic transition and reform undertaken by the Sudanese civilian-led transitional government during the last year, as well as the improvement of relations with its international partners.\u00a0<\/p>\n We welcome the civilian-led government\u2019s efforts to promote human rights and fundamental freedoms in the framework of its reform and national reconciliation process, which have led to significant improvements, such as the repeal of the public order law, the abolition of apostasy as a criminal offence, the abolition of the death penalty for children, amendments to male guardianship laws, the new policy on press freedom and the criminalization of female genital mutilation.\u00a0<\/p>\n We particularly welcome Sudan\u2019s steps forward in the field of freedom of religion or belief. We are confident that measures such as the provision of the right to freedom of religious belief and worship by the 2019 Constitutional Declaration, efforts to counter discrimination and hate based on religion or belief, the inclusion of Christmas among national holidays and the recent decriminalization of apostasy will positively contribute to the ongoing process of democratic transition and national reconciliation, and we stress the importance of their swift implementation.
