{"id":68176,"date":"2021-12-21T14:57:23","date_gmt":"2021-12-21T13:57:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/?p=68176"},"modified":"2021-12-23T13:01:04","modified_gmt":"2021-12-23T12:01:04","slug":"hong-kong-elections-december-2021-g7-foreign-ministers-joint-statement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/it\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/comunicati\/2021\/12\/hong-kong-elections-december-2021-g7-foreign-ministers-joint-statement\/","title":{"rendered":"Hong Kong elections, December 2021: G7 foreign ministers joint statement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">We, the G7 Foreign Ministers of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States of America and the High Representative of the European Union, noting the outcome of the Legislative Council elections in Hong Kong which took place on 19 December 2021, express our grave concern over the erosion of democratic elements of the Special Administrative Region\u2019s electoral system.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">The package of changes to the electoral system introduced earlier this year in Hong Kong, including reduction of the number of directly elected seats and establishment of a new vetting process to severely restrict the choice of candidates on the ballot paper, undermined Hong Kong\u2019s high degree of autonomy under the \u2018One Country, Two Systems\u2019 principle.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">We strongly reiterate our call on China to act in accordance with the Sino-British Joint Declaration and its other legal obligations and respect fundamental rights and freedoms in Hong Kong, as provided for in the Basic Law. We also call on China and the Hong Kong authorities to restore confidence in Hong Kong\u2019s political institutions and end the unwarranted oppression of those who promote democratic values and the defense of rights and freedoms.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p><em>Traduzione di cortesia<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dichiarazione congiunta dei ministri degli esteri del G7 sulle elezioni a Hong Kong, Dicembre 2021 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Noi, i Ministri degli Esteri del G7 di Canada, Francia, Germania, Italia, Giappone, Regno Unito e Stati Uniti d&#8217;America e l&#8217;Alto Rappresentante dell&#8217;Unione Europea, prendendo atto dell\u2019esito delle elezioni del Consiglio legislativo di Hong Kong, svoltesi il 19 dicembre 2021, esprimiamo la nostra grave preoccupazione per la riduzione degli elementi democratici nel sistema elettorale della Regione Amministrativa Speciale.<\/p>\n<p>Il pacchetto di modifiche al sistema elettorale introdotto all&#8217;inizio di quest&#8217;anno a Hong Kong, compresa la riduzione del numero di seggi ad elezione diretta e l&#8217;istituzione di un nuovo processo di controllo volto a limitare fortemente la scelta dei candidati sulla scheda elettorale, ha minato l&#8217;alto grado di autonomia di Hong Kong sancito dal principio \u201cUn paese, due sistemi\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Ribadiamo con forza il nostro appello alla Cina affinch\u00e9 agisca in conformit\u00e0 con la Dichiarazione congiunta sino-britannica e con gli altri suoi obblighi legali e rispetti i diritti e le libert\u00e0 fondamentali di Hong Kong, come previsto dalla Legge fondamentale.
