The first edition of the Joint Action in 2014 had the merit of relaunching the promotion of the Italian language abroad as an extraordinary instrument whereby to promote Italy’s foreign policy and whole cultural and economic system. The Joint Action took stock of the diffusion of Italian courses abroad and defined an operating strategy, launching new and innovative projects. The 2014 initiative, promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in conjunction with the Ministry of Education, University and Research and the Municipality of Florence, offered the opportunity to outline new strategies to disseminate Italian abroad, by meeting the present challenges.
2015. LET’S TALK ABOUT IT: LANGUAGE HAS A VALUE
In October 2015, Florence hosted the event Let’s Talk about it: Language has a Value to provide an update on the state of progress of the projects launched in 2014. In addition to providing figures on the diffusion of Italian courses in the world, the event offered the opportunity to reflect on the value of Italian for Italy’s economic system and to list the priorities to be addressed for the Joint Action of 2016. Deputy Foreign Minister Giro underscored the importance of developing a single Italian language certification in partnership with the Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR).
