International child abductions: The MFA guide for parents and government officials
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Justice are working together to address the problem of international child abductions. A task force has been set up provide a single, coordinated means of tackling such cases, which see numerous Italian children taken abroad illegally.
The MFA has been active for some time in defending children. In 2008 it produced a guide for parents, government officials and associations required to act in various capacities in these cases. The booklet, which is intended as a tool to help anyone involved in family disputes, contains practical, targeted information on the legal framework. It also illustrates the operational role of the MFA and its diplomatic-consular network abroad.
