Germany presents draft legislation on electric and hydrogen vehicles
The German federal government presented the Bundestag with draft legislation designed to promote the use of electric, hybrid and hydrogen vehicles that calls for the creation of reserved parking areas, reduced parking fees and circulation permits for areas otherwise closed to traffic. The latest data of August 2014, show 21,500 electric vehicles circulating in Germany, of which 8,000 were registered in the current year. The further promotion of electro-mobility is one of the principal instruments by which the German government proposes to reach its greenhouse gas emissions reduction goals (by 40% compared with 2005 levels). The measures are intended to be valid for a period of 15 years.
