Libya: Italians continue to transfer out

Operations continue for the transfer out of Libya of Italian nationals requesting it. Another Italian Air Force plane, operating in coordination with the Foreign Ministry Crisis Unit and COI/Difesa, left Tripoli to land this afternoon in Pisa with 47 Italians and other nationals aboard. This week’s operations will conclude with this mission, which follows on similar ones recently carried out; another two are already scheduled for the coming days.

After the departure of many Italian nationals on commercial airlines in early July, and following the suspension of commercial flights from Tripoli, as a precaution the Foreign Ministry evacuated more than 150 Italians, in Libya for reasons of work, who had asked to leave the country. All those who had requested assistance were assured departure. The Italian nationals that have remained on Libyan soil have expressly asked to stay and may, in any case, continue to avail themselves of the support of our embassy.

At the same time, the “Tuscania” Carabinieri contingent protecting the Embassy of Italy has received reinforcements and continues to operate with the maximum commitment to defending the Italian community and interests in Libya.
