The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), in accordance with the Ministry for Education, University and Research (MIUR), the Ministry for the Environment and Land and Sea Protection (MATTM) and the Ministry of Health, has published the annual call for contribution requests for the development of joint research projects approved by the Executive Protocols on bilateral cooperation in science and technology.
Participation in the call is reserved to the managers of “very important” projects included in said protocols, which must be operative for 2016 (list). The entitled respondents have until 5:00pm on February 11, 2016 to submit the request for contributions, exclusively via the dedicated on-line platform http://web.esteri.it/granderilevanza/.
The projects are assessed on the basis of their results and their capacity to reinforce scientific relations between Italy and foreign counterparties, and must envisage a source of own financing, because the amount assigned cannot exceed 60% of the total annual costs.
In 2015, the MAECI financed 85 projects, establishing a total provision of approximately 1.594 million euros; the MIUR allocated 123 thousand euros for 4 projects. For 2016, also the MATTM and the Ministry of Health will contribute to the provision, with the aim of optimising the efficiency of resources allocated to scientific cooperation.
The Scientific and Technological Cooperation Unit of the Directorate General for the promotion of the Country System, appointed by the MAECI to supervise the procedure, will answer any requests for clarification e-mailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
