Denmark – 5th Day of Italian Researchers in Denmark and in the Region of Øresund

The 5th Day of Italian Researchers in Denmark and in the Region of Øresund was celebrated at the residence of the Italian Ambassador in the Gluckstadt Palace, at the attendance of numerous academics well integrated in Danish Universities.

The event was subdivided into three sections: the economy, the environment and culture. In the first panel, Anders Wirtzen, the Vice President of the Maersk Group, illustrated the Group’s investments in the port of Vado Ligure, while Federico Ravenna, the Head of Research at the Danish Central Bank, highlighted the importance of the issues dealt with by an issuing bank.

The topic of the environment was addressed by the President of ISPRA, Stefano Laporta and by the Director of the European Environmental Agency, Hans Bruynincks, who presented the recent bilateral cooperation agreement on ecosystems, with a focus also on the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.

Plenipotentiary Minister Fabrizio Nicoletti, Director for the Internationalisation of Science and Technology of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) underscored the role of the Ministry in promoting research through the network of Italian academicians working abroad.

In the section dedicated to culture, Prof Salvatore Settis talked of the future of the great Torlonia Collection following the agreement between Denmark and Italy while Glyptotek of Copenhagen – the private museum that owns the largest Etruscan collection outside of Italy – praised the agreement signed last summer in Rome at the end of a long negotiation through which prestigious pieces were returned to Italy and Italian art collections will be hosted in Denmark in the future. Both of the goals of the agreement was promoted by the MIBACT and the Minister of Cultural Heritage and Tourism, Dario Franceschini.
