The Crisis Management Unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, along with ENAC (Italian Civil Aviation Authority) and Assaeroporti (Italian Airport Management Association), have renewed and extended their safety information campaign for travellers. It reminds Italians who are planning to travel abroad on holiday to consult the “Viaggiaresicuri.it” portal and register with “Dovesiamonelmondo.it” on the internet. A free App can also be downloaded to smartphones and tablets. These important aids are available to travellers to ensure they stay up-to-date on security conditions in the countries they are travelling to for their winter holidays, and enable the Crisis Management Unit to provide assistance in an emergency.
Stefano Verrecchia, Head of the Crisis Management Unit at the Farnesina, said: “Travelling the world is now a part of our lifestyles and reflects the type of society that we want. At the same time, we find that an increasing numbers of Italians are more concerned about security. The Crisis Management Unit makes credible, in-depth information available to help anyone who travels the world for tourism, work, study or sport to make responsible, informed travel choices. Our advice to Italians is to download the App before leaving, regularly consult our security alerts, and register on our portal.”
The Director General of ENAC, Alessio Quaranta said: “In view of the imminent holiday period, which is statistically one of the busiest times of the year for air traffic, it is very important for the public to stay informed on developments in security conditions in the countries they will be visiting, and keep the authorities up-to-date on their movements. ENAC supports the Farnesina Crisis Management Unit’s information campaign, and makes its channels of communication available, including the airport 'totems', to help improve the experience of those who travel by plane and are going abroad for the upcoming holidays and make it safer.”
Maria Teresa Bocchetti, Secretary-General of Assaeroporti, said: “Assaeroporti and its associated airports support the Farnesina Crisis Management Unit project enthusiastically since we know how important it is to remember that Italians have instruments like ViaggiareSicuri and Dovesiamonelmoneo available to help them travel more safely and responsibly in this globalised world with increasing levels of travel.
"This campaign by the authorities is in line with the commitment of airport operators to provide passengers with increasingly well-organised, complete services.
"Thanks to the support and cooperation of the airport management companies, ADR, SEA, SACBO, SAVE, SAC, Aeroporto di Bologna, Toscana Aeroporti, GESAC, Aeroporti di Puglia, SAGAT, SOGAER, Aeroporto Valerio Catullo, AIRGEST, SOGEAAL, Aeroporto di Genova, Aeroporto FVG and AIRiminum 2014, the information will be published and promoted at airports all over the country.”
For the entire holiday period, ENAC and Assaeroporti will make their channels and communications available to back the campaign and help spread the message. They will publish info banners and show the official video on their websites. Airport managers involved will also support the initiative by promoting the information campaign at the following airports: Alghero, Bari, Bergamo, Bologna, Brindisi, Cagliari, Catania, Florence, Genoa, Milan Linate, Milan Malpensa, Naples, Pisa, Rimini, Rome Ciampino, Rome Fiumicino, Turin, Trapani, Trieste, Venice and Verona. This will be through monitors in the air terminals, web portals, social channels and Wi-Fi TVs. The official video will also be broadcast on the ENAC "totem" at the following airports: Bari, Genoa, Milan Linate, Naples, Olbia, Pantelleria, Pisa, Reggio Calabria, Rome Ciampino, Rome Fiumicino - Cerimoniale di Stato, Rome Fiumicino - Terminal 3, Rome Urbe, Turin and Venice.
