Italian Economic Diplomacy 19 December: latest global news

The government of Georgia chose the company Keios  ( to work in a joint venture with CMC (Georgia) to plan and oversee urban regeneration work in the spa town of Abastumani. Worth about 850,000 euros, the project is financed by the World Bank under the Third Regional Development Project. The aim is to increase tourism in the local economy through an integrated urban renewal project based on a clear, collaborative plan of development that will lead to an effective investment programme. Work is expected to last for 40 months. Keios is a Rome-based Italian consultancy firm that operates exclusively on the international market. It provides planning, design and technical assistance services in its specialist areas of urban development, cultural heritage and sustainable tourism. Keios won this contract having completed a number of other important urban regeneration jobs. These included ones for the city of Kandy in Sri Lanka and Berat and Përmet in Albania, also under the ambit of World Bank funded programmes.
