Contemporary Art Day: Seoul, from Arte Povera to the present day

The Seoul Italian Cultural Institute organised two events with Fabio Cavallucci, the main curator of the Biennale of City Planning / Architecture in Shenzhen, China to celebrate the 15th Contemporary Art Day.  Cavallucci, former Director of Prato’s Pecci Contemporary Art Centre and of the Contemporary Art Centre in Warsaw, addressed an audience of professionals and students presenting an overview of Italy's contemporary art scene - from the Arte Povera of the 1960s to the present day.

Cavallucci outlined the main movements that have come to the fore in Italy, dwelling in particular on the more significant artists who are more widely known at the international level. He also gave some tips as to how to make one's way through the variegated world of Italian artists, most of whom, especially among the younger generations, often live abroad.

The second event was addressed to art management students attending Seoul’s main University in which Cavallucci presented his standpoint as to the characteristics that artistic events should have in order to enjoy public success without relinquishing the scientific and research aspects. Numerous pictures were shown at both events, some of which reflected his extensive hands-on experience.
