Oman: EU-GCC Business Forum, Muscat 11 December 2019
The fourth edition of the UE-GCC Business Forum will be held next 11 December 2019 at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre in Muscat. The event is co-organised by the European Union Delegation and the Omani Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Supreme Council for Planning, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Information Technology Authority and the Investment Promotion Agency (Ithraa) of Oman. The Forum will be attended by experts and companies from GCC and EU Countries on the theme of technology as the driver of growth and prosperity, with a special focus on the role of technology in the sector of education, logistics and production.
The other topics to be explored are also the connection between technology and economic diversification processes, especially in GCC Countries, as well as initiatives aimed at better defining how to boost trade and investments between the two Regions. The Forum will also highlight the challenges and results achieved by women entrepreneurs in the technology sector.
The event will offer an opportunity to extend the networking of European companies in the area and, in the meantime, single out new commercial and investment opportunities through the presentation of numerous projects under way in the GCC Countries in the sectors targeted. Greece – The Greek Ministry of Transport signs a Memorandum of Understanding with Trainose (Ferrovie dello Stato Group)
Ferrovie dello Stato (Italian State Railways) closed a big deal in Greece. The Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Kostas Karamanlis, and Philippos Tsalides, the CEO of TrainOse, a rail operator in Greece and a company of the Ferrovie dello Stato Group since 2017, signed a Memorandum of Understanding pursuant to which Trainose and the Greek MIT undertake to sign a new 15 year Service Agreement starting from 2021 for a total value 750 million euros (50 million euros a year) after the current Service Agreement expires on 31 December 2020.
