The second edition of the RomAfrica Film Festival (RAFF) is set to take place again at the ‘Casa del Cinema’ in Rome’s Villa Borghese park from 13 to 16 July. The event, which is part of the Italy-Africa Initiative, was presented at the Foreign Ministry at the presence of the Deputy Director General for Globalization, Raffaele De Lutio, and diplomatic representatives of many African countries. The aim is to use cinema to leverage a fruitful synergy that might help Italians to get better acquainted with the African the continent and its potential, by revealing Africa’s valuable cultural diversity through the cinema. The aim is to promote integration and mutual understanding.
As emphasized by the organizers, "Africa is the continent of the future and of the present, and film-making is a wonderful tool to talk about the great changes that are under way." A selection of films from the Rome festival will later be screened in other Italian cities in September. The first edition of the event was organised by the Casa del Cinema in Villa Borghese, Internationalia, Itale20, CNINA and the Ouagadougou Pan-African Film Festival, and recorded more than 5 thousand spectators for a total of 7 films, 4 documentaries, 5 short films and 16 video clips in three days.
