"The adoption today of the OSCE Unified Budget for 2018 is an important result to ensure the effectiveness of the Organisation's action," said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, OSCE Chairperson-in Office. "It is a result that Italy has pursued with great determination, bridging differences to finally and patiently weave a consensus of all the OSCE participating states." He went on: "I wish to express my thanks to the OSCE participating States that in Vienna have today shown responsibility and readiness to hold a dialogue. Thanks to the adoption of the budget, the OSCE will continue to work to find concrete solutions to our region's security challenges." The OSCE, the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe, with 57 participating states and 11 partner states, is the world's largest regional security organisation, covering more than a billion people from Vancouver to Vladivostok. The Approved Unified Budget for 2018 totals approx. 138 million euros, net of the Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine (SMM).
