Argentina - Pistoletto's "Mirror Cage" on show in Buenos Aires

Argentina - Pistoletto's

Michelangelo Pistoletto's installation titled "Mirror Cage" will be on show in Buenos Aires in conjunction with the celebrations marking the 30th anniversary of the death of Jorge Luis Borges. The installation uses an interplay of mirrors to multiply spaces, a theme which was very dear to the great Argentinian writer. Michelangelo Olivero Pistoletto is globally acclaimed as one of Italy's most important contemporary artists. An artist, painter and sculptor, he is among the propounders of the 'Arte Povera' ("Poor Art") movement. His installation will be reproduced on site in the "Gran Lampara" hall of the Kirchner Cultural Center  from November 3 to December 31. It also forms part of the initiatives promoted by the Italian diplomatic network in Argentina - the Italian Embassy, the Consulate General and the Italian Cultural Institute (ICC) - in conjunction with several institutions to celebrate the 16th Week of the Italian Language in the World, whose theme is "L'Italiano e la creativita': marchi e costumi, moda e design" ("Italian and Creativity: brands, lifestyles, fashion and design"). The programme also features several events on a number of issues around the central theme of design, spanning from literature, to photography, books, films and musical performances.
