Armenia: the Farnesina hosts a workshop to discuss opportunities in the highways sector for Italian enterprises

"I believe that Armenia, a country which is set on becoming a logistics hub, can be of strategic interest for the Italian construction industry," said the Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Benedetto Della Vedova, when participating in the workshop entitled " Armenia - business opportunities in the highways sector." Organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in partnership with ANAS International Enterprise, the event was also attended by the Armenian Minister of Transportation, Communication and Information Technologies  Vahan Martirosyan. The meeting focused on the presentation of the North-South Road Corridor, with a view to developing partnerships between Italian companies interested in the project, with ANAS International Enterprise as the lead business partner and also the coordination of the Farnesina.The strategic value of the Corridor was illustrated to the representatives of some fifty Italian leading players in the engineering, construction and financial sectors. The North-South Corridor, which crosses the territory of Armenia from Georgia all the way to the border with Iran, forms part of the TRAnsport Corridor Europe-Caucasus- Asia and is included in the development of the new Silk Road."It is an important initiative focused on a Country that has great culture and potential. It represents a concrete example of the promotion of the Italian economic and industrial system, which ANAS International Enterprise has been supporting ever since its inception," said Stefano Granati, chairman of ANAS International Enterprise, at the end of the meeting.A mission to Armenia, including the companies interested in the project, will be organised in the next few months as a follow-up to the workshop, with a view to gaining a better understanding of operational formats and real opportunities.
