Today the Region of Campania hosts a mission from the Province of Sichuan, whose capital Chengdu was recently nominated the most economically attractive city of China. The mission, promoted by the Italian Consulate General in Chongqing, is part of the integrated promotion action of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Later today the mission’s agenda has scheduled a visit to the Campania Regional Authorities. The Italian Foreign Ministry will be represented by the Director General for Cultural and Economic Promotion and Innovation, Enzo De Luca.
The mission’s highlight is the signing of a package of agreements. The first is a Letter of Intent between Region of Campania and the Province of Sichuan, which will constitute the regulatory framework for future agreements. The second agreement provides for the establishment of an Italian-Chinese Culture Park dedicated to themes like cinema, sports, cuisine and theatre in the area of Tianfu, which already hosts similar initiatives in partnership with Germany and France. The aim is to strengthen cooperation in areas in which Italy and Campania boast competences of excellence: restoration, precision machinery, design (including industrial design), home furniture and furnishings, etc. The third is the Music Cooperation Agreement between the Conservatory of San Pietro a Majella and the Sichuan Conservatory of Music.
During the meeting, participants will also discuss China’s proposal to hold a Festival of the Culture of Campania in Chengdu before the end of 2016. The following point on the agenda will be a follow-up of the mission carried out at the beginning of May in Tianfu (Chengdu) and Liang Jiang (Chongqing) by the City of Science of Naples, the ITTN (International Transfer Technology Network, an associate of China’s Ministry of Science and Technology) and by the Chinese-Italian Technology Transfer Centre (CITTC). The meeting will offer an opportunity to discuss the participation of Sichuan Province to the 7th edition of the China-Italy Science, Technology and Innovation Week, to be held in Italy (Bergamo, Bologna and Naples) from 25 to 27 October.
