Brazil - “Casa Rio - Embaixada Brasileira de Negocios” opens in Rio

The "Casa Rio - Embaixada Brasileira de Negocios" project, a government programme to attract investment and encourage business networking in the host cities of the 2016 Olympic Games has been officially opened in Rio de Janeiro. The project is a follow-up of the investment promotions carried out at the "Rio conferences" in London 2012 and at the 2014 football World Cup and will involve a series of conferences and B2B meetings between April and September. The meetings will focus on energy, smart cities, life sciences, design and fashion, infrastructure, startups, new media, tourism and sports entrepreneurship. The events will be hosted in the 400-seat Auditorium of the Museu do Amanha (Museum of Tomorrow), designed by Santiago Calatrava and recently opened in the Porto Maravilha area. The initiative, also supported by the Italian diplomatic network in Brazil and by the Italian Consulate General in Rio in particular, will include 42 business events for 40 new direct investment projects over the next two years. To this end there will be an audience of 4000 people, including 2,800 industry leaders from around the world and 800 companies. It will begin on Apr. 13 with a life sciences event and then continue on May 30 with one on infrastructure. The programme will continue with ad hoc seminars on different areas until Sept. 12, the date of the last meeting, which will be dedicated to smart cities and big data.
