Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Development, Mateusz Morawiecki unveiled an economic development plan which includes ambitious measures geared to stimulate growth and to support the innovation and competitiveness of the country’s economic system. Mr Morawiecki explained that the aim of the plan is to bring Poland’s per capita GDP up to the EU average by 2030. The plan involves five pillars: re-industrialization and the creation of new industrial sectors based on a development plan for clusters and industrial districts; improvement of the legislative framework to boost investments in research and development as well as cooperation between universities and the private sector; effective management of EU, public and private investments to foster economic growth; support for exports; implementation of measures to promote development in rural areas. Over one million zloty (230 billion euros) have been earmarked for the plan which will be financed with public and private funds, including European Structural Funds.
Australia: Salini Impregilo awarded contract in Perth
Salini Impregilo was selected as the preferred contractor for the construction of the Forrestfield Airport Rail Link in Perth, Australia. Developed as a joint venture with NRW, the project will include the design, construction and 10-year maintenance of the new railway line to the east of Perth, with 8.5 kilometers running almost entirely underground. Construction will begin by the end of 2016 and will be completed in 2020.
