The information campaign promoted by the Foreign Ministry’s Crisis Management Unit in conjunction with Assaeroporti, the association of Italian airport managers, and ENAC, the National Civil Aviation Agency, will kick off today in 24 Italian airports. The campaign invites Italians departing for foreign destinations to use the “” and “” portals which provide updated information on the security conditions in the Countries chosen as the destination for their summer holidays and facilitate assistance in case of an emergency.

“Be informed and keep us informed has always been our motto,” said Stefano Verrecchia, the Head of the Ministry’s Crisis Management Unit. He went on: “Travelling, opening up to new scenarios and new cultures is a fundamental element of our model of society and a value to uphold. But it is also essential that anybody travelling around the world – for reasons of tourism, business, study and sports – make informed and responsible choices: our instruments are precisely designed for this purpose.”

He continued: “The services of the Crisis Unit can also be accessed through a free App for smartphones and tablets. We invite Italians to download it before their departure, continue to consult the security alerts and register with our portal.”

The Director-General of ENAC, Alessio Quaranta, welcomed the initiative: “It is very important for ENAC to contribute to launching such a relevant information campaign which has the two-fold aim of broadly providing travellers with preliminary information on the security of their destinations and, at the same time, of enabling our institutions to provide assistance to citizens in case of need. We fully support the initiative promoted by the Foreign Ministry’s Crisis Management Unit and will make available our communication channels and the multimedia totems in airports in order to improve the travelling experience and the safety of air transport users travelling abroad this summer.”

“In a globalised world such as the one we live in, the possibility of travelling and circulating freely is of primary importance, just as the certainty of disposing of useful and reliable information for one’s personal safety,” said Maria Teresa Bocchetti, Secretary General of Assaeroporti. She continued: “Assaeroporti and its associated Italian airports enthusiastically greeted the initiative promoted by the Foreign Ministry’s Crisis Management Unit, especially with a view to improving the quality of services offered to passengers. The project was joined by 16 airport management companies, namely ADR, SEA, SACBO, SAVE, SAC, Aeroporto di Bologna, Toscana Aeroporti, GESAC, Aeroporti di Puglia, SAGAT, SOGAER, Aeroporto Valerio Catullo, SOGEAAL, Aeroporto di Genova, Aeroporto FVG, and AIRIMINUM, which will support the initiative by promoting it at their respective airports.”

Throughout the summer period, ENAC and Assaeroporti will make available their communication means and channels to support the campaign and contribute in disseminating the messages by publishing info banners and official videos on their websites. The airport management companies involved will equally support the initiative by promoting the information campaign at the airports of Alghero, Bari, Bergamo, Bologna, Brindisi, Cagliari, Catania, Florence, Genoa, Milano Linate, Milano Malpensa, Naples, Pisa, Rimini, Roma Ciampino, Roma Fiumicino, Turin, Trieste, Venice and Verona through airport displays, web portals, social media and Wi-Fi TV. Moreover, the official video will be transmitted on ENAC’s totems present in the following airports: Bari, Genova, Milano Linate, Napoli, Olbia, Pantelleria, Pisa, Reggio Calabria, Roma Ciampino, Roma Fiumicino – State Protocol, Roma Fiumicino – Terminal 3, Roma Urbe, Turin and Venice.
