The Geometry of Nature

The Geometry of Nature

The Italian Cultural Institute in Lisbon continues its effort to promote contemporary art by presenting the latest work by Sandro Sanna in an exhibition entitled “The Geometry of Nature”, curated by plastic artist António Olaio, director of the School of Arts of the University of Coimbra and with a critical review by Lorenzo Canova.

The opening of the exhibition, at the presence of the artist, is scheduled at 7 p.m. on Thursday, 8 June, in the Chapel of the Italian Cultural Institute on Rua do Salitre, 146, Lisbon.

Art critic and historian Lorenzo Canova, professor of Contemporary Art History at the  University of Molise, wrote on the artist’s light-guided metamorphosis: “Sandro Sanna rediscovers ancient cosmological visions through a visionary look suspended between the past and the future, in a continuously morphing dynamic system of changing orbits that are reconfigured through new and different coordinates in a whirlpool of shapes reborn out of the colour black to become beams of absolute light aspiring to putting order and a limit to infinity  (…). In his refined and intense use of geometry, gold and the metal’s glowing brilliance, Sanna re-considers and therefore redesigns the cosmological and metaphorical patterns of the forms that, in their reflecting brilliance, unite lands and religions, the decorations of churches, temples and mosques, alluding to the mathematical perfection of a linear universe and its enigmas (…).”
