Toronto's Italian Cultural Institute will be hosting Ljubodrag Andric's photographic exhibition "The necessary time" until 18th January. To coincide with this exhibition, on 11th January, the artist will discuss his work during an evening event with Marta Braun, Graduate Program Director at Ryerson University. Andric was born in Belgrade to a playwright father and actress mother. He first displayed his interest in photography at the age of 15 and devoted himself completely to it after gaining his degree in literature from the University of Belgrade. He moved to Rome in 1986 and to Toronto in 2002, where he currently resides, holding Italian and Canadian citizenship.
After recent shows in San Francisco and Toronto, this year his work was exhibited at the Milan Triennale, as well as in the art exhibition spaces of Bocconi University. A major exhibition dedicated to Andric has just ended in Venice, at the Querini Stampalia Foundation, curated by Francesca Valente with installation by Tobia Scarpa, while another is due to open at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Le Locle, Switzerland, next February.
