On December 30 last, Minister Di Maio travelled to Kosovo to meet with Italian military personnel engaged in NATO's KFOR mission.
Active since June 1999 under UN Security Council Resolution 1244, KFOR ensures freedom of movement and a stable security environment to the benefit of the Kosovar population. The Italian contingent (with 512 military units) is the second largest one after the United States’ contingent.
The Minister met the Mission Commander, Italian Divisional General Franco Federici, who assumed command in November 2020.
During his stay in Pristina, Minister Di Maio also had a courtesy meeting with Foreign Minister Haradinaj-Stublla.
