Date:

03/18/2016

Rabat -

The world of Italian silk is going on show in Rabat, with Friday's opening at the Italian Institute of Culture in the Moroccan capital of the exhibition "Italian Silk Fantasy", from the modern section of the Sartirana Foundation collection. Along with a selection of silk dresses by Giorgio Armani, Roberto Capucci, Gianfranco Ferre', Ken Scott, Emilio Pucci, Valentino and Versace, there will be a rich selection of accessories from well-known brands, featuring ties and scarves made in Milan, Florence, Rome, Naples and Venice by the brilliant creators of the Italian Fashion System.

The show will not only exhibit the creations of Fendi and Ferragamo, Gucci and Marinella, Trussardi, Etro and Missoni, but also several brands unknown to the general public, niche artisan companies, many of which have disappeared over the years. It is a panorama of men's and women's fashions from the 1960s to the end of the century, including details like silk umbrellas and pillows that bear witness to the sophistication of their owners, from Monica Vitti to Valentina Cortese, from Jacqueline Kennedy to Nancy Reagan, and from Soraya of Persia to Sophia Loren. The exhibition, which came to Rabat at the initiative of the Italian Institute of Culture, was organised in partnership with the Sartirana Foundation, the Andrea Pfister Foundation of Vigevano and the Ken Scott Foundation of Milan.
