The Italian Embassy in Prague hosted the highlight event of the Italian Design Day 2019 in the Czech Republic. The event was organised upon the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation with the aim of combining artistic talent, creativity and entrepreneurship in a broader production process, which is the fulcrum of one of the sectors of Italian excellence in the world. This is why design is put in parallel with Italian cuisine, language, music and cinema in spearheading the #VivereALLitaliana cultural promotion strategy implemented by the diplomatic networks using a brand that factors beauty into all the facets of living, creating and producing.
All these elements are present in the Prague exhibition where a series of panels by photographer Miro Zagnoli induces visitors to ponder over the identity of objects whose value is defined in a multiple layer of meanings mediated through photographic images. The iconographic component is completed with the representation of some iconic Made in Italy products that are spread through the Embassy according to a particular exhibition itinerary: a Ferrari Portofino, a Ducati Panigale V4, a Vespa, Rocchetto bathtubs, lamps by Flos, Edra sofas and the products by Kartell, Alessi and Bialetti, which testify to the different expressions of Italian creativity.
Ambassador Francesco Saverio Nisio underscored how design constitutes a key factor for our Country’s exports as it reflects an aesthetic excellence skilfully harmonised with practical and functional features, thus making Italian products extremely popular and appreciated on international markets. During the last decades, the design industry has in fact become a strategic sector of the Country’s production system.
