The focus was on Iranian infrastructure today at the offices of the national builders association (Ance), where a round table was organised by the Farnesina and the Agenzia ICE and Ance. Participants in the discussion, opened by Under-Secretary Benedetto Della Vedova, included the heads of Ance, Ice, Sace and Confindustria, along with a high-level Iranian delegation led by Deputy Minister for Roads and Urban Development and President of the Iranian railways Mohsen Pour Seyed Aghaei. This latter was accompanied by Deputy Minister for Roads and Urban Development and CEO of Construction and Development of Transportation Infrastructures (CDTIC) Ali Nourzad and Deputy Minister for Agriculture Alimorad Akbari, who is also in charge of water resources and the environment.
For the first time, over 150 Italian construction sector firms were able to conduct a 360-degree discussion on the Iranian government’s construction/infrastructure plans for the coming years.
This round table on Iranian infrastructure followed on from Minister Paolo Gentiloni’s visit to Teheran in August along with Minister for Economic Development Federica Guidi. Moreover, a few weeks ago a major system mission took place in the Iranian capital, with Deputy Minister for Economic Development Carlo Calenda at the head of over 300 Italian firms engaged in sectors such as automotive, biomedical, building materials and renewable energy. The Italian government intends to take a clear and coherent policy approach to supporting the new phase in relations between the international community and Iran that has followed the positive outcome of nuclear negotiations.
