Serbia – Film retrospective pays tribute to Mastroianni in Belgrade
The Yugoslav Film Archive in Belgrade is dedicating a section of its “World Movie Stars” screenings to Italian actor Marcello Mastroianni. The retrospective kicked off on 7 July and ends on 1 September, with films shown every Thursday. Films starring the Italian actor already shown include: Mario Monicelli’s “Big Deal on Madonna Street”, in which he stars alongside Vittorio Gassman; Federico Fellini’s “La Dolce Vita”, with Anita Ekberg; Pietro Germi’s “Divorce Italian Style”, starring Stefania Sandrelli and Michelangelo Antonioni’s “La Notte”, with Jeanne Moreau.
The August programme began with Vittorio de Sica’s 1963 masterpiece “Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow”, with Mastroianni and Sophia Loren. The retrospective continues with Fellini’s “8 1/2” starring Claudia Cardinale, followed by “Marriage Italian Style”, “Fellini’s Casanova” with Virna Lisi and Luchino Visconti’s “The Stranger” starring Anna Karina.
