Doing the “maximum” to safeguard cultural assets in seismic zones. That is the goal of the PON01-02710 project, known as “Massimo”, which the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) presented recently at the Italian Embassy and the World Bank in Washington.
Participants at the workshops included representatives of the INGV, the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development (ENEA), and the University of Calabria. Federal agencies such as the United States Geological Survey (USGS), Smithsonian Institution, Library of Congress, USAID and the National Gallery also took part, along with several American universities and research centres.
As INGV researcher Maria Fabrizia Buongiorno pointed out, the event was made possible not least by the organisational contribution provided by the scientific and technological cooperation office of the Italian Embassy in Washington and the Italian Cultural Institute. Read more, in Italian.
