The Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Vincenzo Scotti, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Ecuador in Italy, Carlos Vallejo López, today signed a Reciprocal recognition agreement between Italy and Ecuador on the conversion of driving licences. The technical aspects of the agreement were negotiated by the Italian Transport Ministry’s Department for Civil Motoring and the competent Ecuadorean authorities.
Ambassador Vallejo expressed his appreciation and satisfaction over the agreement and underscored its high social significance, in view of the large Ecuadorean community living on Italian territory.
Under-Secretary Scotti recalled that our country, which in the past experienced strong waves of emigration, today places a special emphasis on the integration of foreign citizens. He noted that the signing of the agreement on driving licences is another important element in the overall framework of collaboration with Ecuador. Relations between the two countries are seeing increasing dynamism, in line with Italy’s policy focus on the entire Latin American region.
