The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, will go on mission to Israel and Palestine on Wednesday, 15 March.
At 9 a.m. local Tel Aviv time, Minister Alfano will meet with the leader of Israeli opposition, Isaac Herzog, and immediately after, following a meeting with the media, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The agenda subsequently schedules a meeting with the President of Israel, Reuven Rivlin, at the residence of the President of the State of Israel, preceded by a meeting with the media.
From approximately 1:15 to 2:15 p.m., Minister Alfano will pay a visit to the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial, followed by a meeting with the Italian media.
In the afternoon, Mr Alfano will go to Ramallah where he is scheduled to meet with his Palestinian counterpart, Riyad al-Malki, at 4:30 p.m. The meeting will be followed by a joint press conference.
Next on Mr Alfano’s agenda is a meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
During his visit, Foreign Minister Alfano will confirm Italy’s intention to contribute to rebuilding the political horizon for a two State solution, the only road considered to be viable, while expressing Italy’s commitment to support the resumption of direct negotiations between the Parties.
