The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, had a cordial meeting today with his Tunisian counterpart, Khemaies Jhinaoui, on the sidelines of the MED Dialogues in Rome."Bilateral cooperation between our two Countries has reached an excellent level and is ready for a quantum leap: we should relaunch the negotiations for a Framework Agreement capable of managing all aspects concerning the migration phenomenon between our two countries, " said Alfano to his colleague."I wish to express my sincere appreciation for the efforts Tunisia has made to manage migration flows, for which we are providing an economic support through the Fund for Africa," added the minister. He continued by saying: "I believe the Abidjan Summit to be a positive political momentum that can contribute to further strengthening cooperation between the EU, the African Union and the UN in the field of migration, especially with a view to protecting the most vulnerable, in line with the approach Italy has always been supporting.""Today, we are also adopting a Joint Declaration on the Mediterranean Erasmus Programme, through which Italy intends to promote a better mutual knowledge and understanding between the young people of our two Countries. We want to enhance and streamline their mobility at the international level for study and training reasons. To this purpose we will increase the number of scholarships to be assigned to Tunisian students that want to study in our Country."
