UNESCO expresses its solidarity and commitment to support Notre Dame rehabilitation work

The President of the Republic of France, Emmanuel Macron, received today the solemn declaration adopted by the UNESCO Executive Board at the initiative of Italy reaffirming the values of cultural heritage in relation to the events which affected Notre Dame. The initiative is in line with the actions our Country has been promoting within the Organisation to  protect, safeguard and valorise cultural heritage.
The Organisation's Director-General, Audrey Azoulay accompanied by a delegation of the members of the Executive Board, including the Italian Representative to UNESCO, presented the document to the French president during a ceremony held at the Élysée. The document expressed the solidarity of all 193 member countries of UNESCO and confirmed the Organisation's commitment and determination to protect cultural heritage which represents the universal values that unite all peoples. The declaration also stated that  UNESCO will contribute with its scientific expertise to the rehabilitation work of Notre Dame de Paris, a site of exceptional value which has been inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 1991.
