Ethiopia. Humanitarian flight of the Italian Cooperation for the supply of humanitarian goods in Tigrè

A humanitarian flight of the Italian Cooperation has landed today at 1 p.m. Italian time at Makallé airport, in Ethiopia. It left the United Nations Humanitarian Readiness Base (UNHRD) in Brindisi with a cargo of 8 tons of medical supplies, of which 6 tons of medicines and medical kits of the Italian Cooperation and 2 tons of medicines provided by the Italian Red Cross.

The Italian humanitarian flight - one of the first made by international donors to land in the Tigre' region - is intended to strengthen the health care activities of the Ethiopian Red Cross in support of the population affected by the severe humanitarian consequences of the conflict in the region.

"This flight - says the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Marina Sereni - is a tangible sign of our commitment to the region of Tigre, marked in recent months by a conflict that has caused victims and suffering to the population. We want to alleviate this suffering and to stop the hostilities and violence".
