Today, Ambassador Ettore Francesco Sequi takes on the position of Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He entered the diplomatic service in 1985 and held his first foreign posts in Teheran, New York and Tirana. In 2004, he was appointed Italian Ambassador to Kabul. In 2010 he served at the European Union as the EU Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, with the qualification of Ambassador, and in 2011 he was seconded to the EEAS as Head of EU Albania Delegation in Tirana. In 2015, he was appointed Ambassador of Italy in Beijing.
He served as Chef de Cabinet for Ministers Federica Mogherini, Paolo Gentiloni and Luigi Di Maio.
