Deputy Minister Di Stefano at the Italy - Vietnam Conference on scientific and technological cooperation

Today, Deputy Minister Di Stefano and the Vietnamese Vice Minister of Science and Technology, Bùi Thế Duy, opened the Italy - Vietnam conference on scientific and technological cooperation.

The conference, organised by the Vietnamese Science and Technology Ministry and the Italian Embassy in Hanoi, presented the results of 30 years of cooperation between the two Countries in the scientific field, with 7 executive protocols, more than 50 joint projects, and 153 bilateral agreements between research centres and universities in the two Countries, to promote research and student exchanges.

“Scientific diplomacy is a highly important part of our foreign policy,” stated the Deputy Minister, “because science and technology are the main ingredients of economic growth and the advancement of humanity in future sectors”.

“Aerospace, artificial intelligence, and industry 4.0,” went on the Deputy Minister, “are all key sectors to invest in, and in which Italian industry enjoys excellence. But we are moving ever more towards a green transition, to attain carbon neutrality by the middle of this century. All of these fields offer extensive scope for collaboration with Vietnam”.

Finally, DM Di Stefano drew attention to the Italy - ASEAN development partnership launched last year: “Thanks to this format new forms of collaboration with South-East Asia are opening up. In this highly dynamic region we see at lot of synergy between our respective economic systems and potential for our industry,” concluded DM Di Stefano.
