Notice of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - India. Humanitarian flight of the Italian Cooperation for the fight against Covid-19 in the country

Upon the initiative of the Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Marina Sereni, a humanitarian flight of the Italian Cooperation departed this morning from the United Nations Humanitarian Readiness Base (UNHRD) in Brindisi to New Delhi airport with a cargo of 8 tons of medical equipment to fight Covid-19.

The humanitarian cargo, donated by Assicurazioni Generali Group and the Lombardy Region, consists of 300 medical oxygen concentrators and 42 lung ventilators. The material will be delivered to the Indian Red Cross on the front line to combat pandemic spreading in the country.

It is the third transport of medical equipment from Italy to India since the beginning of May. In this case, the transportation was carried out thanks not only to the collaboration with the Civil Protection Department in the EU Civil Protection Mechanism framework but also to the private sector, in a country-wide effort to provide an adequate response to the request for assistance made by the Indian authorities on 23 April.
