Conference against human trafficking in Niamey

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, represented by the Director General for Migration Policies, Luigi Maria Vignali, participates in the conference that is opening today in Niamey, Niger. The international meeting – which is attended by representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and of the Interior of Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Guinea, Libya, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal and Chad – aims at sharing solutions to combat irregular migrations and at coordinating efforts to fight human traffickers, merging solidarity initiatives with cooperation projects in order to enhance security by building the capacity of African Countries to control their territories.

The Conference is an operational follow-up of the African Union-European Union Summit of 9 November 2017 and reproposes the format and contents of the two Conferences on the Countries of Transit of Migration Flows of Rome that were chaired by Minister Alfano in July 2017 and February 2018.
