Deputy Minister Manlio Di Stefano took part in the meeting of the Foreign Investments Attraction Committee (CAIE), chaired by the Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Gian Paolo Manzella, and attended by the main central and local institutional players in the sector.
The Committee dealt with various investment projects in Italy in detail, including some very promising ones in the healthcare sector, as well as with governance of the CAIE, which sees the diplomatic / consular network and the Italian Trade Agency (ICE) involved along with the Ministry of Economic Development (MISE), Invitalia, the other administrations and local bodies, in creating a legal / regulatory framework that is more favourable for attracting foreign direct investment (FDI).
“This meeting,” the Deputy Minister said, “marked an important step in the drive to revitalise CAIE’s operational status, at a time that is fundamental for relaunching the Italian economy. Along with colleagues from MISE, from the other administrations involved, and from the State - Region Conference, we are preparing a package of reforms for decisively enhancing the extent of our Country’s attraction. This is based on the belief that the recovery of the Italian economy also requires a combination of direct foreign investment and an increase in international trade.”
“The next step,” Deputy Minister Di Stefano concluded, “will be to involve the highest echelons of government and Parliament, as well as our financial institutions, in this project to relaunch Italy’s attraction potential.”
