During his stay in Munich to represent Italy at the Security Conference, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, had a bilateral meeting with his Jordanian counterpart, Mulki Ayman Al-Safadi.
After congratulating the Jordanian minister for his recent appointment to the cabinet led by Prime Minister Hani al Mulki, Mr Alfano confirmed that the fight against terrorism remains a “priority for both our Countries”.
Minister Alfano expressed satisfaction at the “excellent state of the bilateral relations”, recalling “Italy’s commitment in promoting the resilience of Jordanian institutions, as testified by the Memorandum on Development Cooperation currently being finalised.”
“Jordan’s security is crucial to the stability of the Middle East,” said Mr Alfano. He continued: “Italy stands firmly by Jordan in the fight against terrorism and greatly appreciates your Country’s efforts in combating the dangerous narrative of Daesh. This is an essential aspect of our strategy to definitively defeat the so-called Islamic State.”
