The Farnesina hosts a conference on defending Italian creativity and innovation in the world through the protection of intellectual property rights with the aim of giving an update on one of the key sectors for the internationalisation of our companies.
Today the Farnesina hosts a conference on defending Italian creativity and innovation in the world through the protection of intellectual property rights (copyright, trademarks, patents, industrial design, geographical indications).
Vincenzo de Luca, Director General for Cultural and Economic Promotion and Innovation will open the conference ‘Italian Creativity and Innovation in the World – Protecting Intellectual Property Rights on International Markets’, and will introduce addresses by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), Elisabetta Belloni, and by Michele Scannavini, the president of ICE-Agency of Foreign Trade, to an audience of representatives of Institutions, private associations, businesses, universities, the legal profession and the world of research.
Protecting intellectual property rights is key to the internationalisation of our companies and to the competitiveness of Brand Italy at global level, which precisely requires the teamwork that the Foreign Ministry makes available through its capillary diplomatic and consular network and its integrated promotion action.
The companies that make an intensive use of intellectual property rights in Italy constitute a vital resource for the Country’s economy. In the 2011-2013 three-year period, they generated more than 44% of the GDP and 30% of jobs, compared to a European average of 42% and 28% respectively.
The Conference, which will be attended by representatives of Confindustria, the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, the National School of Administration and the Ministry of Economic Development, will present the new promotion, communication and training projects with which the Foreign Ministry intends to contribute to the effort necessary to effectively and systematically meet the growing demand for services and assistance by Italian companies abroad.
